This bold and graphic floral depicts the festival of Adonis, the mortal lover of the goddess Aphrodite in Greek mythology – every year at midsummer women would plant ‘Gardens of Adonis’ with vases of fast-growing plants, to celebrate the beautiful young man’s life. The layout of the vase is loosely based on an archival Liberty design, incorporating stylised plants such as anemones (a symbol of Adonis), marigolds, petunias and peonies. The design’s undulating stalks create a sense of movement and dynamism. Garden of Adonis is part of the Earth story of our Autumn/Winter 2023 collection - a tribute to the earth’s bounty, these designs immerse us in the captivating details of the natural world.

For Autumn/Winter 2023, A Liberty Odyssey takes us on an adventure inspired by early storytelling – a dazzling contemporary voyage through the world of ancient myths. For this collection, the Liberty Fabrics designers drew upon the potent iconography and enduring cultural significance of millennia-old narratives of gods and goddesses, with four stories of ‘Classical’, ‘Universe’, ‘Earth’, and ‘Oceans’. A sweeping tour across sea, land, and heavens, shot through with captivating mythic imagery and symbolism to ignite the imagination.

Liberty's Tana Lawn™ cotton is a fabric built by obsession, perfected into a modern masterpiece of production through a bespoke process that has evolved over a century. Printed in their very own Liberty Printing Mill, located between Milan and Lake Como in northern Italy, Tana realises unmatchable fluidity with a silk-like touch, unique print quality and striking colour vibrancy. Machine washable and durable enough for daily wear, it can be used to create everything from simple separates to spectacular statement pieces.
